Yanktonai
The Yanktonai, also known as the Yanktonai Dakota or Yankton Sioux, are a division of the Sioux Nation within the Dakota branch. They historically inhabited the upper Missouri River region, in present-day eastern South Dakota and western Minnesota, with movements that extended into neighboring areas. The Yanktonai are linguistically connected to the Dakotan language family, and their dialect is part of the Yankton-Yanktonai variant of Dakota.
