Xkromosoomil

Xkromosoomil is the X chromosome, one of the two sex chromosomes in humans and most other mammals. Sex chromosomes determine an individual's biological sex. Females typically have two X chromosomes (XX), while males typically have one X chromosome and one Y chromosome (XY). The X chromosome is larger than the Y chromosome and contains a significant number of genes, many of which are not directly related to sex determination. These genes carry instructions for a wide range of bodily functions and traits.

The inheritance of the X chromosome follows a specific pattern. Females pass one of their X chromosomes to each of their offspring. Males, possessing an X and a Y chromosome, pass their X chromosome to their daughters and their Y chromosome to their sons. This means that daughters inherit one X chromosome from their mother and one from their father, while sons inherit their X chromosome solely from their mother.

Because males have only one X chromosome, they are hemizygous for genes located on this chromosome. This means that any recessive traits or genetic disorders carried on the X chromosome will be expressed in males, as there is no second X chromosome to provide a dominant, unaffected copy of the gene. This explains why certain X-linked genetic conditions, such as color blindness and hemophilia, are more prevalent in males than in females. Females, with two X chromosomes, can be carriers of X-linked recessive disorders if one of their X chromosomes carries the affected gene.
