Xers
XerS is a fictional international consortium formed to coordinate research in environmental sensing, data integration, and sustainable resource management. The acronym XerS stands for eXperimental Systems for Environmental Research and Synthesis. Conceived in speculative scenarios to explore governance of large-scale data networks, XerS is designed as a neutral platform that brings together universities, non-governmental organizations, and industry partners to develop interoperable sensing systems, open data standards, and decision-support tools.
Structure and governance: XerS is described as a decentralized network with a Governing Council, a Scientific
Activities and projects: Notable initiatives include HydroStream, a multinational sensor network for groundwater and surface water
Reception and impact: In speculative analyses, XerS is cited as a model for cross-sector collaboration and responsible
