Workblending

Workblending is a term used to describe the blurring of lines between professional and personal life, often facilitated by technology. It encompasses the practice of integrating work activities into personal time and vice versa, moving away from traditional rigid schedules and dedicated work environments. This can manifest in various ways, such as responding to work emails outside of standard business hours, conducting personal errands during the workday, or even working from locations not designated as traditional offices, like cafes or home.

The rise of remote work, flexible schedules, and the ubiquity of smartphones and laptops have significantly contributed to the prevalence of workblending. It can offer individuals greater autonomy and the ability to manage their time more effectively, potentially leading to improved work-life balance for some. For instance, an employee might choose to start their workday later after attending a child's school event, or catch up on tasks in the evening after personal commitments.

However, workblending also presents potential challenges. The constant connectivity can lead to an "always on" culture, making it difficult to disconnect from work and leading to burnout.
