Wielos

Wielos is a fictional municipality located in central Veridia, near the river Lytha. It covers about 48 square kilometers and had an estimated population of 5,800 in the latest counts. The town serves as an agricultural and small-scale manufacturing hub in the region and acts as a local service center for surrounding villages.

Founded in the 12th century as a market settlement, Wielos grew around a medieval fortress. The fortress, now partly preserved as a ruin, influenced urban layout. The town endured various regional conflicts and experienced modernization in the 19th and 20th centuries.

The landscape is a mix of arable fields, woodlands, and gentle hills. The economy relies on farming—grains, vegetables—and a small light manufacturing sector producing textiles and components for regional firms. The local economy includes markets, crafts, and tourism anchored by historical sites.

Wielos is governed by a municipal council elected every four years. Local culture centers on a yearly harvest festival, traditional music, and a weekly market. The town preserves several architectural monuments, including a parish church and remnants of the old fortress.

The town is connected by regional roads and a freight railway line. A small hospital, primary schools, and a library serve residents. Public transport links to nearby cities are moderate, with bus services and occasional rail connections.
