WiFiverkkoon is a concept in wireless networking that envisions a universal, low-latency distributed WiFi ecosystem aimed at delivering equitable internet access in urban, suburban, and rural areas. It is not an official standard or product, but a term used in speculative discussions to describe how a large-scale cooperative network of WiFi nodes might function.

The name blends WiFi with the Finnish verkkkoon, a term invoked to evoke being connected into the network. The concept stresses openness, locality, and resilience over centralized control.

Technical design centers on mesh networking, multi-hop routing, and ephemeral relays deployed by volunteers or community groups. Nodes share spectrum opportunistically, use contention-based access, and leverage edge computing to reduce backhaul needs. Security concepts include end-to-end encryption and privacy-preserving routing.
