A wholeproduct is usually broken into three layers: the core product, the actual product, and the extended product. The core product addresses the fundamental need. The actual product comprises tangible attributes, design, and packaging. The extended product consists of ancillary aspects—service guarantees, retail distribution channels, brand reputation, and supplementary features—that remove friction from purchase and use.
