Westhavens

Westhavens is a fictional coastal city in the country of Norhaven. It sits on a protected harbor on the western shore and forms the principal urban center of the Norhaven Metropolitan Area, connected by rail and road.

The city includes historic harbor districts and modern neighborhoods, with the bay to the west and gentle hills to the east. Westhavens has a temperate maritime climate, with mild winters, cool summers, and rainfall spread fairly evenly.

First settled in the medieval period, Westhavens grew as a trading port in the 14th and 15th centuries. Its harbor expanded during the industrial era, supporting shipbuilding and warehousing, while the 20th century brought diversification into manufacturing and services.

Westhavens is governed by a mayor and a 28-member city council, elected to four-year terms. As of 2023, the municipality had about 112,000 residents in urban and suburban neighborhoods.

The economy centers on the harbor and logistics, anchored by Westhaven Port, with complementary sectors in manufacturing, tourism, and services. Transport links include Westhaven International Airport, a regional rail network, and a ring road around the metropolitan area.

Cultural life revolves around the historic Old Town, the Maritime Museum, and the Harbor Festa festival, with Westhaven University hosting programs in science and liberal arts. The city maintains parks, promenades, markets, and performance venues throughout the year.
