Westarat

Westarat was an Australian television station that operated in Perth, Western Australia. It commenced broadcasting in 1960 as TVW, the first television station in Western Australia. TVW was affiliated with the Seven Network and was known for its local productions, including news bulletins and variety shows. In 1988, the station was rebranded as Westar, reflecting a broader ownership group and a renewed focus on its regional service.

The station continued to serve the Perth metropolitan area and surrounding regions for many years. Throughout its history, Westar played a significant role in the development of television in Western Australia, providing news, entertainment, and community information to a wide audience. Its programming often reflected local culture and interests.

In 2000, Westar merged with GWN, another Western Australian regional television network, to form GWN7. This amalgamation aimed to create a stronger, more cohesive television service across the state. The Westar identity was phased out following the merger, with the combined entity continuing to broadcast under the GWN7 banner, maintaining its affiliation with the Seven Network.
