WelteMignon was a German company, M. Welte & Söhne, that manufactured orchestrions and player pianos. Founded in 1832 in Freiburg im Breisgau, the company became renowned for its highly sophisticated automatic musical instruments. The Welte-Mignon system, introduced in 1904, was a pneumatic reproduction system that allowed for the recording and playback of music with exceptional fidelity.
