Weeknd

Weeknd, usually known as The Weeknd, is the stage name of Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, a Canadian singer, songwriter, and record producer. Born February 16, 1990, in Toronto to Ethiopian immigrants, he rose to prominence in the early 2010s after posting several self-released mixtapes—House of Balloons, Thursday, and Echoes of Silence—online. These works were later packaged as the compilation Trilogy (2012). He co-founded the XO record label with Oliver El-Khatib, and the imprint later entered into a joint venture with Republic Records.
