Waterjetting

Waterjetting, also known as high-pressure water jetting, is a cleaning and cutting process that uses a very high-pressure stream of water. The water is pressurized to extremely high levels, often thousands of pounds per square inch, and then expelled through a small nozzle. This focused stream possesses enough force to remove various materials, including paint, rust, scale, and other contaminants from surfaces.

The process can be used for both cleaning and cutting applications. In cleaning, waterjetting is effective for removing stubborn deposits from industrial equipment, pipes, and infrastructure. The abrasive properties of the water can be enhanced by adding fine abrasive materials to the stream, making it suitable for tougher cleaning tasks or even for cutting.

For cutting, waterjetting technology, often referred to as abrasive waterjet cutting, uses a high-pressure water stream mixed with abrasive particles. This abrasive stream can cut through a wide range of materials, including metals, plastics, stone, and composites. The process is known for its precision and ability to cut complex shapes without generating heat, which is beneficial for materials that are sensitive to high temperatures. Waterjetting is a versatile tool used in industries such as manufacturing, construction, and maintenance.
