WTOtárgyalások refers to negotiations within the World Trade Organization (WTO). The WTO is an international organization that regulates and facilitates international trade between its member countries. These negotiations are crucial for setting and updating the global rules of trade, aiming to liberalize trade, promote economic development, and ensure fair competition.

The history of WTO negotiations is marked by several significant rounds, the most notable being the Uruguay Round, which led to the establishment of the WTO itself in 1995. More recently, the Doha Development Agenda, launched in 2001, has been the primary focus of WTO discussions. The Doha Round aims to address trade issues for developing countries, focusing on areas like agriculture, industrial goods, services, intellectual property, and trade facilitation.

However, WTO negotiations are often complex and protracted, involving a large number of member states with diverse economic interests. Reaching consensus can be challenging, leading to difficulties in concluding negotiations. Key sticking points have historically included agricultural subsidies, non-tariff barriers, and the inclusion of new issues like environmental standards and labor rights in trade agreements. Despite these challenges, the WTO remains the principal forum for governments to negotiate trade agreements and resolve trade disputes.
