Wärmestrahlung

Wärmestrahlung, also known as thermal radiation, is electromagnetic radiation emitted by all matter that has a temperature greater than absolute zero. This radiation is a form of energy transfer and occurs through electromagnetic waves, primarily in the infrared spectrum. The intensity and spectral distribution of this radiation depend directly on the temperature of the emitting object. Hotter objects emit more intense radiation and at shorter wavelengths.

A key characteristic of Wärmestrahlung is that it does not require a medium for propagation; it can travel through a vacuum, such as space. This is how the Sun's energy reaches the Earth. This phenomenon plays a crucial role in many natural and technological processes, including weather patterns, the operation of infrared thermometers, and the design of thermal insulation.
