Vízvetés

Vízvetés is a Hungarian term that translates to "water scattering" or "water projection." It refers to a traditional method of water management and agricultural practice found in certain rural areas of Hungary. Historically, vízvétés was employed to distribute water from natural sources like streams or rivers to fields and gardens, particularly in regions prone to drought.

The practice often involved the construction of simple, yet effective, irrigation systems. These could include channels dug into the land, small dams or weirs to divert water flow, and sometimes rudimentary wooden or clay structures to control the release of water. The goal was to ensure that crops received adequate moisture during dry periods, thereby improving yields and preventing crop failure.
