Værdistrømsanalyse

Værdistrømsanalyse, often translated as Value Stream Mapping (VSM), is a lean management method used to analyze and visualize the current state and desired future state of all the actions required to bring a product or service to a customer. It is a key tool in lean manufacturing and has been adapted for use in various service industries and software development. The primary goal of Værdistrømsanalyse is to identify and eliminate waste, also known as "muda," in a process.

The analysis involves mapping out every step in a process, from the initial request or order to the final delivery to the customer. This includes not only the value-adding steps but also non-value-adding steps such as waiting times, transportation, inventory, and rework. Data is collected for each step, including processing times, lead times, inventory levels, and the number of operators involved. This data is then used to create a visual representation of the flow, highlighting areas where delays or inefficiencies occur.

Once the current state is mapped, a future state map is designed. This future state aims to optimize the process by removing or reducing identified waste. The focus is on creating a smoother, faster, and more efficient flow. Værdistrømsanalyse helps teams understand the interconnectedness of different parts of a process and fosters collaboration towards a common goal of continuous improvement. It provides a holistic view, allowing for strategic decision-making regarding process improvements and resource allocation.
