Väärtegevus

Väärtegevus is a legal term used in Estonia that broadly translates to "misdemeanor" or "petty offense." It refers to less serious violations of law that are punishable by fines, community service, or short-term detention. These offenses are distinct from criminal offenses (kuritegevus), which are considered more serious and carry heavier penalties.

The Estonian Penal Code and various other laws define specific acts that constitute väärtegevus. Examples include minor traffic violations, petty theft, public order disturbances, and some environmental offenses.
