Vänsterhändiga refers to individuals who predominantly use their left hand for tasks that typically involve manual dexterity, such as writing, eating, or throwing. This preference is known as left-handedness. While the exact causes of left-handedness are not fully understood, research suggests a complex interplay of genetic and environmental factors.

Studies indicate that the tendency for left-handedness can be inherited, although it does not follow simple Mendelian inheritance patterns.
