Väljundiformaadid refer to the various ways that data or information can be presented or stored after processing. The choice of an output format depends heavily on the intended use of the data, the target audience, and the systems involved. Common output formats can be broadly categorized into text-based, media-based, and structured data formats.

Text-based formats include plain text (.txt), which is universally compatible but lacks formatting, and rich text formats like Rich Text Format (.rtf) or documents created in word processors like Microsoft Word (.docx) or Google Docs, which support styling, images, and complex layouts. Markup languages such as HTML (.html) are used for web content, allowing for structured presentation of information that can be rendered by web browsers.

Media-based output formats are designed for presenting visual or auditory information. Image formats include JPEG (.jpg), PNG (.png), and GIF (.gif), each with different compression and transparency capabilities. Audio formats like MP3 (.mp3) and WAV (.wav) are common for sound files, while video formats such as MP4 (.mp4) and AVI (.avi) are used for moving images.

Structured data formats are crucial for data exchange and storage where the relationship between data elements is important. Examples include CSV (Comma Separated Values, .csv) for tabular data, JSON (JavaScript Object Notation, .json) and XML (Extensible Markup Language, .xml) which are widely used in web APIs and configuration files due to their hierarchical and machine-readable nature. The selection of the appropriate output format ensures that information is accessible, usable, and correctly interpreted by its intended recipients or systems.
