Väljalasketaktil

Väljalasketaktil refers to the exhaust stroke in an internal combustion engine. It is one of the four fundamental strokes in a typical four-stroke engine cycle, following the power stroke and preceding the intake stroke. The primary function of the exhaust stroke is to expel the burnt gases, also known as exhaust fumes, from the combustion chamber.

During the exhaust stroke, the piston moves upwards from its lowest position (bottom dead center) towards its highest position (top dead center). As this happens, the exhaust valve opens. This allows the pressure generated by the combustion process in the previous power stroke to push the spent gases out of the cylinder and into the exhaust system. The upward movement of the piston effectively sweeps the cylinder, clearing it of residual gases to prepare for the next cycle.

The efficiency of the exhaust stroke is crucial for engine performance. If exhaust gases are not expelled completely, they can dilute the fresh fuel-air mixture in the next cycle, leading to reduced power output and increased emissions. The design of the exhaust valves, camshaft timing, and exhaust manifold all play a role in optimizing the expulsion of these gases. In many engines, the inertia of the exiting exhaust gases also contributes to their removal.
