Väliskaablid

Väliskaablid, often translated as outdoor cables or external cables, are electrical cables designed and manufactured to withstand the harsh conditions found in outdoor environments. Unlike indoor cables, which are typically protected from the elements, väliskaablid must be resistant to a range of environmental factors. These factors include direct sunlight and UV radiation, which can degrade insulation over time, extreme temperatures (both hot and cold) that can cause brittleness or melting, moisture and water ingress which can lead to corrosion and short circuits, and physical damage from abrasion, impact, or even animal chewing.

The construction of väliskaablid incorporates specialized materials and design features to achieve this durability. Common elements include robust outer jacketing made from materials like polyethylene (PE), polyvinyl chloride (PVC) with UV stabilizers, or even specialized compounds designed for extreme temperatures. Shielding is often incorporated to protect against electromagnetic interference (EMI) and radio-frequency interference (RFI) that can be more prevalent in open environments.

They are used for power distribution to external buildings, street lighting, agricultural equipment, telecommunications infrastructure deployed outdoors, and in various industrial settings where cables need to run between buildings or across open ground.
