Vuokrakiista

Vuokrakiista is a Finnish term that translates to "rent dispute" or "rental dispute." It refers to conflicts that arise between a tenant and a landlord, typically concerning the terms and conditions of a rental agreement or the state of the rented property. These disputes can encompass a wide range of issues, including disagreements over rent payments, the return of a security deposit, repairs and maintenance, lease renewals, or termination of the rental contract.

In Finland, rental relationships are governed by the Residential Tenancies Act (Asuinhuoneiston vuokrauksesta annettu laki). This legislation outlines the rights and responsibilities of both tenants and landlords, providing a framework for resolving disputes. When a vuokrakiista occurs, parties are encouraged to first attempt to resolve the matter amicably through direct communication. If direct negotiation fails, there are several avenues for further action.

Tenants and landlords can seek advice from tenant unions or landlord associations, which often provide legal guidance and mediation services.
