Vorplatz
Vorplatz is a term used in German-language architecture and urban design to denote the open space directly in front of an entrance or façade of a building, serving as an external forecourt or plaza. It forms the transition between street and interior, and can function as arrival area, staging ground for events, or a public gathering space. The concept is common in German-speaking countries, including Germany, Austria, and parts of Switzerland, and is often incorporated in the planning of train stations, government buildings, museums, churches, and shopping precincts.
