Vonzódásának

Vonzódásának is the possessive form of the Hungarian noun vonzódás, meaning attraction or fondness. While vonzódás can denote emotional attraction, admiration, or a general sense of appeal toward someone or something, vonzódásának specifically marks a possessive relation: it expresses “the attraction of x” or “x’s attraction” in a larger noun phrase. The form is most commonly found in formal or literary prose where the possessor is identified by context.

In use, vonzódásának appears in constructions that describe what belongs to or is experienced by a given subject. For example, in a sentence like a főhősnő vonzódásának tárgya egy fiatal zenész, the object of the heroine’s attraction is introduced. Another example is megállapította vonzódásának okát, meaning “he/she determined the reason for his/her attraction.” The exact possessor is supplied by surrounding words, often with a possessive pronoun or name, such as az ő vonzódásának.

Vonzódásának is contrasted with related terms such as vonzódás (the base noun) and rajongás (more intense enthusiasm).
