Volymmoduler

Volymmoduler, often denoted by the symbol K or B, is a material property that describes its resistance to uniform compression. It quantifies how much a substance's volume changes when subjected to hydrostatic pressure. Mathematically, it is defined as the ratio of the applied pressure to the relative decrease in volume. A high bulk modulus indicates that a material is stiff and difficult to compress, while a low bulk modulus signifies a more compressible material. For example, solids generally have much higher bulk moduli than liquids, which in turn have higher bulk moduli than gases. The inverse of the bulk modulus is compressibility, which represents how much a material's volume changes per unit change in pressure.
