Voetbalschop

Voetbalschop is a term used in Dutch to describe a kick delivered with the foot to propel a football. The word combines voet (foot) and schop (kick) and is used generically rather than to denote a single standardized technique. In everyday and coaching language it covers any kick made with the foot, including passes, shots on goal, crosses, or clearances. The most common contact points are the instep (laces area) for power and distance, or the inside and outside of the foot for accuracy or bending the ball. Toe kicks exist but are typically less emphasized because they offer less control and can increase injury risk.

In practice, players adjust their stance, plant foot, and follow-through to direct the ball. A skilled voetbalschop can switch between a low driven pass, a high curling shot, or a quick clearance depending on the situation. The term does not describe a distinct technique like volley or bicycle kick but a broad category of foot-based contact.

Safety and rules: standard football rules apply; dangerous play with a raised leg or reckless kicking that endangers opponents can be called a foul. Coaches emphasize technique and control to reduce injury risk and improve precision.
