The name Visesfront combines elements drawn from Old Norse and Danish linguistic traditions in Nordmark, with "Vise" likely referring to display or song and "front" denoting the harbor front or quay area.

Geography and climate: The town features a rocky shoreline, a deep-water harbor, and a mix of granite and timber architecture. It experiences cool summers and mild winters, with windy conditions and regular sea spray.
