Virvelstrømseparatorer

Virvelstrømseparatorer, also known as eddy current separators or non-ferrous metal separators, are devices used to separate non-ferrous metals from other materials. They achieve this separation by exploiting the principle of electromagnetic induction. A rapidly changing magnetic field is generated within the separator, which induces eddy currents in any conductive materials that pass through it. These eddy currents, in turn, create their own magnetic fields that oppose the inducing field. This opposing magnetic force repels the non-ferrous metals, causing them to be deflected from the main stream of material.

The core component of a virvelstrømseparator is typically a powerful rotating magnet rotor. This rotor is placed within a non-metallic shell or tunnel, through which the mixed material is conveyed, often on a belt conveyor. As the material passes over the rotor, the induced eddy currents in non-ferrous metals like aluminum, copper, and brass cause them to be thrown forward or sideways, away from the trajectory of ferrous metals and other non-conductive materials, which are unaffected by the magnetic field.
