Villunari

Villunari is a municipality and village in the Valorian region of Eldara. It lies along the Lira River in the northern foothills, about 38 kilometers northeast of Eldara’s capital, Myran. The municipality covers 28 square kilometers and is characterized by a mix of cultivated farmland, woodland, and scattered hamlets. The population was approximately 4,600 as of the 2023 census.

Villunari’s earliest records date to the late 12th century, when a small trading post developed at the river crossing. The settlement grew slowly through the medieval period, acquiring a parish church and a market town charter in the 15th century. The modern municipality was established in the 19th century and expanded with improvements to roads and schools in the 20th century.

Today the economy is based on agriculture—dairy farming, cereals, and fruit—complemented by light manufacturing and craft workshops. The surrounding forests provide timber and recreational opportunities. The village remains a local service center with shops, a post office, and a weekly market.

Administratively, Villunari is governed by a mayor and a nine-member council elected for four-year terms. It belongs to the Eldaran North District and participates in regional planning and cultural programs. Notable landmarks include the 13th‑century Saint Elena Church, the iron bridge over the Lira, and a hilltop park. The annual harvest festival is a focal community event.

Education comprises a primary school and a secondary school. The village is served by regional roads and bus connections; the nearest railway station is in Myran, about 25 kilometers away. Tourism remains limited but local nature trails attract visitors in summer.
