Villanykörtékhez

Villanykörtékhez, which translates to "light bulbs" in Hungarian, refers to incandescent light bulbs, a historical technology for lighting. These bulbs work by passing an electric current through a thin filament, typically made of tungsten, causing it to heat up and glow. This process, known as incandescence, produces light but also generates a significant amount of heat, making them less energy-efficient compared to modern lighting solutions.

The basic design of an incandescent bulb consists of a glass envelope, a filament, support wires, and a base. The glass envelope encloses the filament and is often filled with an inert gas or a vacuum to prevent the filament from oxidizing and burning out too quickly. The support wires hold the filament in place and conduct electricity to it. The base, usually made of metal, screws into a socket to provide electrical connection.

Invented in the late 19th century, incandescent bulbs revolutionized illumination, replacing candles and gas lamps. However, their low energy efficiency has led to their gradual phasing out in many parts of the world in favor of more sustainable alternatives like LEDs and CFLs. While largely obsolete for general lighting purposes, the term "villanykörtékhez" still evokes the era when these simple yet transformative devices illuminated homes and cities.
