A hydrogen bond is a weak attractive force that occurs between a hydrogen atom covalently bonded to a highly electronegative atom (such as oxygen, nitrogen, or fluorine) and another electronegative atom with a lone pair of electrons. This interaction plays a crucial role in the properties of many substances, particularly water.
