Vettähylkiviä

Vettähylkiviä is a Finnish term that translates to "water-repellent" or "water-resistant" in English. It describes a property of materials that prevents water from penetrating or being absorbed. This characteristic is achieved through various methods, often involving surface treatments or the inherent nature of the material itself.

In textiles, vettähylkiviä properties are commonly applied to outdoor clothing, umbrellas, and tents. This is typically achieved by coating the fabric with a thin layer of a hydrophobic substance, such as silicone or wax, or by using tightly woven synthetic fibers that naturally resist water.
