Vetenskapsfält, or fields of science, represent distinct areas of study within the broader scientific endeavor. These fields are characterized by their specific methodologies, subject matter, and the types of questions they aim to answer. Historically, the division of science into fields has evolved, with new disciplines emerging as knowledge advances and overlaps between existing areas are explored.

Broadly, science is often categorized into natural sciences, social sciences, and formal sciences. Natural sciences focus on the natural world and include disciplines like physics, chemistry, biology, and geology. These fields often employ empirical methods, relying on observation and experimentation to understand natural phenomena. Social sciences examine human society and relationships, encompassing sociology, psychology, economics, and anthropology. These fields use a variety of methods, including surveys, statistical analysis, and qualitative research. Formal sciences deal with abstract concepts and logical reasoning, such as mathematics, logic, and computer science. While they do not directly study the physical world, their findings often underpin the other scientific disciplines.
