Vestibulaarhaigusi refer to a group of disorders affecting the vestibular system, which is responsible for balance and spatial orientation. This system is located in the inner ear and connects to the brain. When the vestibular system malfunctions, it can lead to a variety of symptoms, most notably vertigo, a sensation of spinning or dizziness. Other common symptoms include unsteadiness, nausea, vomiting, and difficulty with visual tracking.

Several conditions can cause vestibular dysfunction. Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) is one of the most frequent causes, triggered by changes in head position. Labyrinthitis and vestibular neuritis are inflammatory conditions of the inner ear or the vestibular nerve, often resulting from viral infections. Meniere's disease is a chronic condition characterized by recurring episodes of vertigo, hearing loss, tinnitus (ringing in the ears), and a feeling of fullness in the ear.

The diagnosis of vestibularhaigusi typically involves a medical history, a physical examination, and specific vestibular function tests. These tests may assess eye movements, balance, and hearing. Treatment strategies vary depending on the underlying cause. For BPPV, canalith repositioning maneuvers are often effective. Medications can help manage acute symptoms like nausea and vertigo. In some cases, vestibular rehabilitation therapy, a specialized form of physical therapy, can help the brain compensate for vestibular deficits. Lifestyle adjustments and stress management may also be recommended.
