Vesemedence is a neologism used in some contemporary discussions of cell biology to denote the proposed coupling between vesicle trafficking and the organization of membrane compartments. The term combines vesicle-related processes with a suffix suggesting boundary or interface, and it is not part of standard biological nomenclature. In discussions, vesemedence refers to a dynamic state in which vesicle formation, transport, docking, and fusion interact with the spatial and compositional organization of membranes.

Mechanisms implicated in vesemedence include the machinery that governs vesicle traffic—SNAREs, Rab GTPases, tethering factors—and cytoskeletal elements that position vesicles relative to membrane domains. The concept also emphasizes feedback between membrane curvature, lipid composition, and vesicle budding, fusion, and recycling.

Relevance and use: Vesemedence appears in theoretical models and some reviews as a framework to discuss rapid signaling, cell polarity, and tissue organization, particularly in neurons and polarized epithelia, where coordinated trafficking shapes surface receptor availability and membrane turnover. It is sometimes invoked in discussions of disease states with trafficking defects.

Many scientists prefer to describe the underlying processes with established terms such as vesicle trafficking, endocytosis, exocytosis, and membrane remodeling. While the concept highlights important couplings, it lacks formal definition and thresholds.
