Varikatuste

Varikatuste is a term primarily used in Estonian to refer to awnings or canopies. These are structures designed to provide shelter from the elements, most commonly rain and sun. They are typically attached to the exterior of a building, extending over windows, doors, or patios.

The primary function of a varikatus is to offer protection. For windows and doors, they can prevent rain from entering when opened and reduce the amount of direct sunlight that enters a building, thereby helping to keep interiors cooler and reducing glare.
