Physically, Vandrans are tall and lean, with webbed hands and feet and skin that ranges from pale blue to gray. They possess a dual respiratory system that supports atmospheric breathing and underwater respiration, aided by small gill-like structures when submerged. They also display bioluminescent markings that can change color to communicate.
