The concept has been discussed in the work of several Hungarian thinkers, most notably by sociologist Géza Szekeres in the 1970s, who used it to critique the detachment of Marxist theory from everyday life. In literary criticism, “valóságához” is often invoked to describe the trend in Hungarian prose of the late twentieth century that emphasized realism and the psychological depth of characters, with such authors as György Konrád and Krisztina Tóth sometimes cited as exemplars.

The term also appears in educational philosophy, where it denotes a pedagogical emphasis on connecting classroom learning with real-world applications.
