Valuuttakauppoja, commonly known as Forex trading, refers to the buying and selling of currencies on the foreign exchange market. This market is the largest and most liquid financial market in the world, operating 24 hours a day, five days a week. Participants include central banks, commercial banks, investment firms, hedge funds, and individual retail traders. The primary goal of currency trading is to profit from fluctuations in exchange rates.

Currency pairs are the fundamental units of trading in the Forex market. A currency pair consists of two currencies, with the first being the base currency and the second being the quote currency. For example, in the EUR/USD pair, the Euro is the base currency and the US Dollar is the quote currency. Traders speculate on whether the base currency will strengthen or weaken against the quote currency. If a trader believes the Euro will strengthen against the US Dollar, they would buy EUR/USD. Conversely, if they believe the Euro will weaken, they would sell EUR/USD.

The foreign exchange market is influenced by a multitude of factors, including economic indicators such as inflation rates, interest rates, and employment data, as well as political events and geopolitical stability. Different trading strategies exist, ranging from scalping, which involves making numerous trades in short periods, to position trading, which involves holding trades for longer durations. It is important for traders to understand the risks involved, as the leverage commonly used in Forex trading can amplify both profits and losses.
