Valnemen

Valnemen is a town and administrative center in the eastern valley of the country of Lyria. It lies along the Silver River and sits in a basin surrounded by low hills. The climate is temperate, with mild winters and warm summers.

Valnemen was founded in the 12th century by agrarian settlers and grew as a market town on regional trade routes. It passed through several feudal rulers before joining the republican federation in the 18th century. The arrival of the railway in 1874 accelerated growth, and in the late 20th century the town restructured its administration toward a directly elected council.

Valnemen is governed by a mayor and a town council of 12 members. It is part of the Valnemen District within Lyria and falls under regional authorities for planning and public services.

The local economy combines agriculture, small-scale manufacturing, and services. The surrounding countryside produces grain and grapes; forestry provides timber for mills and crafts. A weekly market and a regional logistics facility support the economy.

As of the latest census, Valnemen has about 9,200 residents. The population is predominantly ethnically Lirian, with minority communities; languages include Lirian and several regional dialects.

Notable sites include the 14th-century Valnemen Gate, the town hall, and the riverside promenade. The annual Harvest Festival attracts visitors from nearby towns.

Transportation links include Valnemen railway station on the Central Line and a network of regional roads. The town supports a public library and a secondary school.
