Valkans
Valkans is a small rural community located in the northern part of the Swedish province of Västerbotten. It lies approximately 30 kilometres east of the regional centre of Skellefteå and is administered by the Skellefteå Municipality. The settlement consists of a cluster of residential buildings surrounding a historic wooden church that dates from the late 18th century, which remains a focal point for local cultural events.
The name “Valkans” is believed to derive from an Old Norse term meaning “valley of the wolves,”
Demographically, Valkans has a population of roughly 400 residents, the majority of whom are native Swedes.
