Valenhof

Valenhof is a town and municipality in the northern part of Eldoria. It serves as the administrative seat of Valen County and a regional economic center. The town lies on the Vallen River, about 70 kilometers from the national capital, Eldor. The municipality covers 42 square kilometers and has a population of roughly 7,200 residents as of 2023.

Historically, Valenhof was founded in the 12th century as a trading post and grew with river traffic. The town expanded during the 19th century industrialization and later faced rebuilding after mid-20th-century conflicts. Today the economy is diversified, with manufacturing, logistics, and public administration; notable employers include the Valen Logistics Hub and a legacy metalworks facility. The transport network—rail and highway access—connects Valenhof to regional markets.

Governance operates on a mayor-council system. The municipal council comprises 18 seats, with elections every four years. The current mayor is Marta Kline. The education system includes two primary schools and one secondary school; there is also a public library and a cultural center.

Cultural and historical sites include the Fort Valen ruins and St. Rurik Church (15th century). The annual Valen Harvest Festival is a notable local event, and the town maintains several museums and public parks.

Transportation is provided by a regional rail line and a national highway, with local bus routes linking districts and nearby towns. Notable residents include economist Niko Arlen and athlete Sara Drees.
