VPNEndpunkts

VPNEndpunkts refers to the endpoints of a Virtual Private Network connection. These are the devices or servers that establish and maintain the VPN tunnel. Typically, one endpoint is the client device, such as a laptop or smartphone, and the other is the VPN server. The VPN server acts as a gateway, forwarding traffic between the client and the internet or a private network.

When a user initiates a VPN connection, their device (the client endpoint) encrypts the outgoing data and sends it through the VPN tunnel to the VPN server. The VPN server then decrypts the data, forwards it to its intended destination, and receives any response. This response is then encrypted by the server and sent back through the tunnel to the client endpoint, where it is decrypted for the user.

The security and functionality of a VPN rely heavily on the proper configuration and security of its endpoints. The client endpoint needs to be secured against malware and unauthorized access, while the VPN server endpoint requires robust security measures to protect the network it guards and the data passing through it. Different types of VPNs may have varying endpoint configurations, such as site-to-site VPNs which connect entire networks rather than individual devices.
