Uven

Uven is a coastal city in northern Solara, the capital of the province of Ardent, with a population of about 118,000 as of 2023. It serves as a regional economic hub and port city.

The name derives from Anari words for river and path, reflecting its river-mouth setting.

Located on the Bay of Lysa at the mouth of the Lysa River, the city has a temperate maritime climate with moderate summers and wet winters.

Uven began as a trading post in the 9th century, grew into a fortified town by the 12th century, and became a Hanseatic-style port during the medieval era. It modernized in the 19th century with rail and steamship traffic and experienced reconstruction and expansion after later conflicts.

The city is governed by a ten-member city council and a directly elected mayor. It forms part of Solara's provincial structure and is represented in the regional assembly.

Key sectors include port operations and logistics, fishing, ship repair, and light manufacturing, with a growing service economy and tourism centered on the harbor area and historic districts.

Notable sites include the Old Market District, the Temple of Sora, and the Lighthouse of Nereid. The annual River Festival highlights the city’s maritime heritage.

Uven is served by Uven International Airport and a rail-linked port with ferry connections. Uven University, founded in 1904, offers programs in engineering, maritime studies, and the arts.
