Utóülepítése

Utóülepítése refers to the process of re-settling or re-depositing sediment after an initial sedimentation event has occurred. This term is often used in geological contexts to describe layers of material that have been transported by a fluid, such as water or wind, and then settled out. When this initial deposition is disturbed by subsequent currents or geological processes, the sediment can be picked up again and deposited a second time, resulting in an utóülepítése.

This phenomenon can lead to complex sedimentary structures. For example, a river might deposit a layer of sand during a flood. If water levels then recede and rise again, the previously deposited sand could be eroded and then re-deposited in a slightly different location or with different characteristics. This re-deposition is the utóülepítése.

Analyzing the characteristics of the utóülepített layer, such as grain size, sorting, and sedimentary structures, can provide clues about the processes that caused the re-settling.
