Utleni

Utleni is a town and municipality in the northern part of Veridia, situated along the Sorel River. It covers an area of 19.3 square kilometers and has a population of about 8,200 as of 2022. The town is characterized by a mix of agricultural land, residential neighborhoods, and small industrial zones.

Geographically, Utleni sits on flat to gently rolling terrain, with loess soils suitable for crops such as barley and potatoes. The climate is temperate with mild summers and cool winters; precipitation is evenly distributed.

Utleni's history traces to the 12th century, originally a farming village that expanded after the construction of a regional railway in the late 19th century. It gained municipal rights in 1892 and developed a small market town economy.

Local government consists of a mayor and a town council elected for four-year terms. As of 2024, the council focuses on urban planning, public services, and regional cooperation with nearby municipalities.

Major sectors are agriculture, food processing, and light manufacturing. The town is connected by a regional road network and a railway line with a station serving local and long-distance trains.
