Unpinned

Unpinned refers to the state of an item, such as a window, tab, or element on a digital interface, that has been released from its fixed or anchored position. When something is unpinned, it typically regains its default behavior, which might include being able to be moved freely, minimized, maximized, or closed. This is in contrast to being "pinned," where the item remains in a designated spot or is restricted in its movement or functionality.

In operating systems, a pinned application might appear on the taskbar or start menu, allowing for quick access. Unpinning it would remove it from that convenient location. Similarly, in web browsers, a pinned tab is often kept open and fixed to the left side of the tab bar, preventing accidental closure and ensuring it's always visible. Unpinning such a tab would allow it to be closed like any other tab.

The term can also apply to elements within software applications or on websites. For instance, a sidebar or a toolbar might be pinned to remain visible as the user scrolls through content. Unpinning it would cause it to hide or scroll with the rest of the page. The core concept of unpinning is the removal of a constraint, returning an object to a more fluid or default state of interaction.
