Umwandler

Although transformers (Transformatoren) are the most recognizable Umwandler, the category also includes measurement and conditioning devices, data converters (analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog), and other signal-processing elements.

Outside electronics, the term can be found in broader discussions of conversion processes, including mechanical or informational transformations. In modern German technical language, more specific terms such as Transformator, Umrichter, or Transducer are often used, but Umwandler remains a valid, general descriptor for devices and systems that perform conversion.
