Umrisszeichnen
Umrisszeichnen, also known as contour drawing, is a fundamental drawing technique that focuses on the outer edges and outlines of an object or subject. It is a method of observing and translating the perceived boundaries of a form onto a two-dimensional surface. The primary goal is to capture the shape and silhouette rather than internal details or shading. In its purest form, umrisszeichnen often involves drawing the line in one continuous motion without lifting the drawing tool from the paper, sometimes referred to as blind contour drawing. This practice encourages close observation of the subject's edges as the eye travels across its form.
This technique is widely taught in art education as a foundational exercise for developing hand-eye coordination
