Ultrafiolette

Ultrafiolette is a term used in some design, speculative fiction, and marketing contexts to refer to a theoretical or perceived color at the violet end of the spectrum. It is not an established color name within standard color spaces such as sRGB or CIE XYZ, and it does not have a fixed wavelength in accepted scientific definitions.

In scientific color terminology, violet is at the edge of the visible spectrum, roughly around 380 to 450 nanometers. Ultraviolet light lies beyond violet and is not visible to the naked eye. Because ultrafiolette implies a color beyond ordinary violet, it is commonly understood as a non-spectral or metaphorical concept rather than a defined physical color. When the term is used in practice, it often signals extreme intensity of violet or a perceptual effect associated with fluorescence, afterimage, or specialized imaging rather than a specific hue in human vision.

Applications and usage vary. In art and fashion, ultrafiolette may be employed to evoke a sense of depth, vibrancy, or otherworldliness associated with violet tones. In product branding, it can describe fluorescent or UV-reactive materials that appear unusually vivid under certain lighting conditions, even though the underlying color is not a standard spectral color. The term remains informal and its exact meaning depends on context.
